Poor Irma!

Remember yesterday how I was noting Irma's massive hair-loss?  Well it looks like it may be a selenium deficiency that has caused it.  I read online that it is common for does to become selenium deficient during and after their pregnancies, as the use up their selenium pretty quickly.  Plus, we live in a selenium deficient area anyway.

I will be giving her a shot of BoSe (an injectable selenium supplement) this afternoon.  Poor girl!  I feel like such a bad goat-owner.  I really hate that she molted her coat so soon, too, as it still had some growing out to do.  Oh well, live and learn!

This weekend I will also be doing hoof trimmings and copper & CD&T dosing for all the goaties.  This winter was rough on their hooves, and I have been working on getting them back on track.

Ah, the joys of goat keeping!  (I don't mean that sarcastically, either!)

Have a lovely afternoon,

Bessie
