Baby Wrap

So I got this really cute baby sling for free from Seven Slings back before I had Evvie.  It is really a great little sling, but Evelyn does not like to be in it for more than 10-15 minutes, so it just wasn't working for us.  I've always wanted one of those comfy looking jersey baby wraps, and I figured it would be reeeeaaaallly easy to make one, so I began researching.  I came upon this fantastic tutorial.  After purchasing 5 yards of a cute cotton/poly blend rib knit from fabric.com and basically just cutting the piece in half, I have this awesome wrap!

Evvie LOVES it!  The first time I put her in it she fell asleep within 5 minutes.  I think she just likes to snuggle close with her momma.  I don't mind it much either. ;)

Here is a YouTube video on how to tie it, in case you were wondering!

I've been sorting through patterns like crazy today!  I just bought some new storage boxes for them, which I am really excited about.  They will be a whole lot easier to get to now.  I am hoping to get some of these up in the shop tonight!

Have a lovely evening!

Wedding Dress Pattern--To DIE For!

I just had to share this, in case anyone is looking for a lovely vintage, unused wedding dress sewing pattern for $30.  Yes, $30!

Amy from Sewing Through the Motions is selling one in her Etsy shop right now (along with some other lovely gems!).  You should seriously check it out!  And while you are at it, you should check out her blog too--it's one of my favorites!

If I am able to put little fart nugget (a.k.a. Evvie) down for a few minutes, I'm hoping to list some new patterns in my Etsy shop today as well!  We'll see what happens...

Cuddly and Warm. :) Oh, and Eggs!

Today was very cold, so Evelyn got to wear the cuddly snow suit that her grandmother gave her for Christmas!

She really loved it.  Apparently this child loves to be swaddled up in a cocoon--it completely calms her.

I know I'm biased, but isn't she adorable?

In other news, our chickens finally started laying a couple weeks ago!  One of them lays her eggs in-between the hay bale and the wall on our front porch.  Seems like a cozy spot...

The eggs are so pretty.  :)  We still need to figure out where the other two hens are laying--they refuse to use the nice nesting boxes we built for them.  Ah well!

My mom has ordered some Lavender Orpington eggs to hatch, and we are going to keep a couple hens from those.  Have you ever seen a Lavender Orpington chicken?  They are gorgeous!

(This photo is from chirpychicks.com, but it seems like that website no longer exists.)

Well, must be off!  Gotta get some cleaning done while Evvie is asleep...

Sisters, nurseries, and pattern sales!

My sister Skylar is such a lovely person. :)  I wanted to share with you a couple cute things that she made for Miss Evvie!

Knit Bunny Doll

So cute, right?  She used a vintage knitting pattern.  I love it, and I know Evvie will too!

Rain cloud mobile

"If all the raindrops were lemon drops and gumdrops, oh what a rain that would be!"

She also has a lovely blog, Relish.  You should check it out!

I thought I'd share a couple other things from Evvie's room...

My Lions and Red Balloons painting:

This painting was inspired by a crazy dream my husband had when he was a kid.  I don't know if I am finished with it yet--I may tweak the background here and there someday, or I may not.  I really like it how it is. ;)

My rocker:

I forgot to take pics of the original fabric, but take my word for it--it was ugly.  Ugly and stained.  However the chair was in great shape, so I bought some fabric and recovered the cushions, with the addition of zippers so that I can remove the covers and wash them if need be. :)  I love how it turned out!
